The Alpe-Adria-Trail takes you from the Grossglockner to the sea. It winds its 750 kilometres through three countries – Italy, Slovenia and Austria. Of course, you don’t have to walk the entire route, you can choose a section you like, put on your sturdy footwear and set off. The route is divided into 43 stages, which will definitely make planning easier. Each one averages 17 km, takes about 6 hours to walk, can be done in either direction, includes at least one place to eat, and ends at a suitable destination for an overnight stay.
A perfectly marked route with breathtaking scenery awaits you along its entire length – from the foot of the majestic Grossglockner, past roaring waterfalls, gurgling streams, wild rivers and mountain lakes, all the way to the azure Adriatic Sea. As far as Carinthia is concerned, the trail takes you to Millstätte Lake, the Finkenstein ruins and the Baumgartnerhöhe, where you can enjoy a magnificent view of Lake Faaker and the whole of Carinthia.
