If you are in the mood for an unusual experience, head to Monkey Mountain – Affenberg. The dense, leafy forest park on the mountainside is home to about 180 Japanese macaques, which you can watch – without being separated from them by a cage.
The guide will tell you many different interesting facts and show you how the macaques play, how they solve various puzzles, how they swim and dive, or what these inventive monkeys can do for a piece of an apple.:)
The tours last about 45 minutes and take place every 20 minutes, so don’t worry about a long wait – in the meantime you can check out the playground, local refreshments or sit by the pond overlooking Landskron Castle.
Entry is free with the Carinthian Card. And if you’d like an even more amazing experience, there’s the option of private guided tours – you’ll have a full hour to explore the park at your own pace and take a peek behind the scenes, without the company of other visitors.
