Near Villach is the NaturSchauPlatz Dobratsch nature park, which offers many opportunities for excursions and experiences for young and old, recreational as well as more experienced hikers. You can plan a route to suit your needs and fitness, and it’s no problem to plan a lighter mountain hike with the kids, who can enjoy the Rosstratte adventure playground, where they can have fun and learn about the local nature and animals.
One option is to take the cable car up, from where it is just over 4 kilometres directly to the Dobratsch peak. Along the way, you may see cows or horses grazing, and at the top you will find a hut, a church and a view of the surrounding area.
In the park you will find a total of five huts offering refreshments and seating, various viewpoints, the most impressive of which is probably the Sky Walk viewing platform, the Dobratsch Nature Park’s Bird World exhibition or you can peek into the alpine garden.
