History enthusiasts can take a trip to the impressive ruins of Glanegg, situated on a steep hillside in the middle of a sunny valley.

After Hochosterwitz and Landskron Fortress, it is the third largest military complex in Carinthia. The castle was first mentioned in 1121 and throughout its history, its Romanesque core has been influenced by many architectural styles, from Romanticism to the Renaissance.

Glanegg Castle is open to visitors from June to September, Thursday to Sunday, from 3pm to 7pm. Guided tours of the castle take place at 3.30 pm and 5.30 pm on these days.

If you would like to come at other times, you must make an appointment by phone. You can also visit the castle as part of various events, just keep an eye on their website.
